Feed, premixes, concentrates and feed specialties producer De Heus Animal Nutrition is taking on a modern feed production site in Helmond, the Netherlands as part of its acquisition of Dutch firm Coppens Diervoeding, a company release announced this week. The facility has a production capacity of 400,000 tn.

The firm said its purchase of the business and facility will strengthen its production capabilities, increase capacity in the European country, and foster growth.

“De Heus and Coppens share a long history in serving the livestock farming sector with high-quality feeds. Both companies are deeply rooted in the Dutch livestock farming sector. There has been mutual respect between the two companies for years,” Henrik de Vor, managing director of Coppens, said in a statement. “We have many family and company values in common. We are therefore confident that looking into the future, Coppens’ position and that of its employees will be properly safeguarded under De Heus’ wings.”

With the addition of Coppens’ facility, De Heus will have a total of 10 animal feed plants in The Netherlands.

“Market conditions, consumer needs, and the demands of supermarket organizations are constantly changing. We intend to continue to support our customers to the best of our ability to help them meet the needs of supermarket organizations and consumers for chain concepts,” said Co de Heus, the chief executive officer of Royal De Heus, in the release. “To be able to do this, it is important for us to have sufficient production capacity and flexibility. The Coppens acquisition further increases our capability in this respect. Coppens is an extremely professional organizations with dedicated employees. We look forward to a common future.”
