Dog ‘left to die’ outside animal shelter in South Carolina, officials say
It will be a long road to recovery for a dog that was “left to die” and “barely clinging to life” outside an animal shelter in South Carolina. Authorities at the Charleston Animal Society said the dog was abandoned, in critical condition, outside the gate of the facility at about 9 p.m. on Dec. 22. “She was left to die in a cardboard box with a life-threatening injury,” a Facebook post said. The surgical team at the facility said they found her at 7 a.m. and rushed her into surgery. “If not for our team’s expertise and care she would have perished,” the post said. “At the time she was barely clinging to life and unable to move. She still has a long road to recovery and is being treated by our team. One can only imagine how much she suffered throughout that cold night alone in the dark unable to move.” This case is being investigated by police, and if you have any information, please contact the North Charleston Police Department at 843-740-2800 or Crime Stoppers and leave an anonymous tip at 843-554-1111. The Charleston Animal Society said that thanks to Hank and Laurel Greer and the McDaniel Family Foundation, donations made through the end of the year will be doubled, dollar-for-dollar, up to $20,000.
