J.C. Anderson has completed a renovation project for Ajinomoto Health & Nutrition North America, Inc.’s new corporate headquarters location at 250 East Devon Avenue in Itasca, Illinois. The company is relocating from 1300 N. Arlington Heights Road, also in Itasca.

Ajinomoto Health & Nutrition is comprised of four business divisions and two subsidiaries that provide innovative solutions to meet various needs of North American consumers with better taste, nutrition, health and wellness. Founded over 110 years ago, the company is recognized as a global leader in the production of amino acid-based solutions for the pharmaceutical, food, foodservice, animal nutrition, nutraceutical, sports & wellness nutrition, regenerative medicine and personal care industries.

The 55,000 square foot project required the existing space to be completely demolished with the new design meeting the company’s needs. Visitors are now greeted via a new vestibule and entry featuring high-end finishes with a view into the welcome area, customer engagement center and labs. The multiple test labs and kitchens provide sleek, polished spaces for experimentation. Office space includes meeting rooms with acoustic panels and wood trim, and a large auditorium with custom AV. The separate engagement center and  corresponding AV room create the perfect environment for intimate cooking events and production to broadcast live streaming. Bold display walls throughout feature environmental graphics that focus on the company’s achievements and history throughout the years.

“This project was a success, despite COVID-19 and its many curveballs, thanks to close collaboration among all parties,” said J.C. Anderson Project Executive Joe Maguire. “From a tight budget to delayed materials, we worked through each hurdle as a team to complete this project on time and on budget. The result: a sleek, fully customized office that allows Ajinomoto Health & Nutrition to showcase their capabilities and re-energize their workforce at the same time.”

The construction team for J.C. Anderson was led by Maguire, Senior Project Manager Larry Regovic, Project Manager Mike Ruffolo and Superintendent Darrel Panfil. Shive-Hattery provided the architectural and engineering design services and JLL provided project management services.
