Dairy producers collect data on their animals every day. But how can they turn that data into tangible goals to increase profitability? Purina Animal Nutrition has made it a goal to help producers convert the data they gather into actionable insights in order to increase that economic potential. Alex Tebbe, dairy technical nutritionist with Purina Animal Nutrition, said that simply the act of measuring and comparing data helps to get a start on improving farmers’ operations.

Tebbe said they have a management system called “Addie” that processes large amounts of data into an easy-to-understand form.

With help from “Addie,” Tebbe said dairy farmers can identify weak points in their operations and become much more profitable.

Tebbe added that this data can also help dairy producers with managing silage supplies, since silage is the main feedstuff for dairy cattle and is often in high demand.
