    POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – A married couple has been displaced and 10 of their 11 pets are dead after a fire broke out inside their Pompano Beach home Wednesday. Gene Sovey, who lives at the home, told Local 10 News reporter Madeleine Wright that he came home from work Wednesday and saw black smoke coming from the front door to his home in the area of Southwest 13th Court and Ninth Avenue. Sovey said he opened the door and saw that a fire had erupted inside the living room.     Florida teen charged with animal cruelty after cat is killed

    A 13-year-old in Florida tortured his neighbor’s cat by trapping it in a trash can for several days, striking it with a pole and fatally slamming it on the pavement until blood seeped from its mouth, according to authorities. The boy — whom the Miami Herald is not naming because of his age — was arrested Tuesday by the Marion County Sheriff’s deputies charged with felony animal cruelty and petty theft.     Sanford man killed while trying to rescue cat in road

    A 30-year-old Sanford man who pulled over to rescue a cat in the road was struck and killed by a vehicle in Rollinsford, New Hampshire, on Monday night. Michal Wing, 30, of Sanford.
